Recent Macaronesian kinematics from GNSS ground displacement analysis

Macaronesia is a complex oceanic region spanning three tectonic plates in the northeast Atlantic ocean. It composed of four archipelagos, widely distributed and limited to east by Iberian Peninsula north-western coast Africa. This study aims clarify recent Macaronesian kinematics from 19 GNSS stations located on archipelagos African coastlines. The analysis based nearly 15 years common data acquisition aimed detect new effects intraplate tectonics or similar local/regional events consistent with calculated ground displacements. Evaluating residual velocities relative those expected NNR-MORVEL56 model, higher residuals were found at continental coastal (Africa) than ones (Canaries Madeira). From computed strain rate map, possible existence shear zone connecting Gloria Transmoroccan fault systems, already mentioned other authors, was depicted. Cluster statistical horizontal helped identify boundaries groups analogous within this region. Three identified Azores, highlighting African-Nubian-Eurasian diffuse plate boundary Furthermore, Canary Islands, two distinct kinematic behaviours detected, possibly due activity along previously detected between Tenerife Gran Canaria, where some have Madeira Cape Verde stations, while others stations. Finally, all crust, except Verde, present subsidence which may be attributed isostatic adjustment.
